Covid-infected patients who are suffering from gum disease are at a much greater risk than their healthy counterparts!

According to a recent study published in Brussels, people with periodontal disease who are infected with Covid-19 are much more likely to have a serious or fatal outcome.

The study with several hundreds of patients with Covid infection, clearly showed that patients with periodontal disease were 3.5% more likely to be admitted to the intensive care unit, 4.5% more likely to be ventilated, and 9% more likely to die from the infection than healthy peers.

Periodontal disease, also known as periodontitis, is a very serious form of gingivitis that affects more than 50% of the world’s adult population!

The disease can be prevented and cured with proper oral hygiene, regular dental check-ups and specialized treatments!

At Nádor Dental, specialist dentists have been treating various forms of gingivitis for years, thus helping to improve general health and the success of subsequent dental intervention.
